New piece in Zeit about QAnon and the AFD

In this piece, Patricia Zhubi and I look into the response to Hanau from the radical right. What we found was a fever-swamp of conspiracy theory in which the same QAnon-style theorists who populate the boards the Hanau shooter accessed now deny his existence. The complex fusion of denial and multiple mutually-exclusive explanations of discrete phenomena tend to create a world in which anything could be true, and one is thus relieved of the pressure to rely on one’s own discernment.
